Dr. Andrew Holmes
MSc, Fear Free Certified Professional
Dr. Holmes is a third-generation veterinarian. His grandfather was a mixed-animal vet, and his father worked with Standardbred racehorses, so he’s truly spent his whole life immersed in the veterinary world. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph and a Master’s in Neuroscience at the University of Victoria before heading to the University of Glasgow for veterinary school.
After graduating, he returned to his hometown of Ottawa, working at Cedarview Animal Hospital for three years before completing a neurology internship at VSCAN. Dr. Holmes and his family then moved back to Scotland for a couple of years, where he worked as an emergency medicine clinician at the University of Glasgow. There, he discovered a passion for teaching and for collaborating across all disciplines within the referral hospital.
After starting a family, Dr. Holmes returned to his roots at Cedarview Animal Hospital. His interested are in diagnostic imaging (ultrasound), evidence based medicine, and a client-centered spectrum of care.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Holmes stays active with his two young boys and two dogs. He enjoys playing sports, aspiring to be a woodworker, and proudly considers himself a self-taught DIY specialist.
“Having experienced many different areas of the industry—from specialty practice to referral hospitals and charitable organizations—I’ve come to truly appreciate being somewhere as special as Cedarview.”
